Ron,
Unfortunatelt you were misled. I have been flying for 33 years with single / multi engine / night / VFR / IFR and floats. Flew night VFR and IFR single engine over land AND water and can still do so in the CJ "IF", as Dan says, I want to equip and certify it for nite and/or IFR (nite is simple). Same for night VFR over land or water. Went to Trinidad in a Bonanza in 1980 - lots of water as Brian attests. Got to go over lots of water to get to Vancouver Island where Joe and a lot of CJ's/52's/18T's live and "they" ,ATC, sometimes restrict you to low altitudes due to lots of IFR traffic. We all suffer from the same stuff from "swivel servants" on either side of the line with little nuances to make life interesting. With the freedom we have with Limited Category aircraft - CJ /52 etc. we do not have the same freedom you do with Experimental in terms of mods etc.
