Today around 2:00pm I received my first aluminum order from Aircraft Spruce . A short time later in the day I completed my first part .Yes you guessed it ,the rudder spar .Thanks to Dave Clay's sheet metal brake plans my first try was a success .Some of the sheets received had some damage around the edges but I was expecting this and can work around it . I have also noticed that the sheet aluminum that I have bought from Aircraft Spruce often arrives with damaged edges as well as scratches from when the material is rolled for shipping. On the other hand, the shipments I have had from Wicks have been blemish free and their sheet metal, or at least on the batches I have ordered, have always come with a protective layer of plastic.

Way to go Wade! Keep us posted on your progress. I have received damaged and undamaged sheet metal from both Wicks and Aircraft Spruce. I think most of the damage occured during shipping, not as a result of handling by the supplier.

When buying more raw aluminum, try Yarde Metals... For some of the other smaller metal pieces you'll need, try Speedy's Metals. You can Google either and find them... You will spend a fortune on metals from AS.
