I am giving strong consideration to switching from the Hartzell 2 bladed blended foil prop to the 3 bladed MT Prop. If there is any RV10 people at OSH checking their e-mails and you happen to go past the MT booth could you please see if they are having any show specials? Also if there is anyone that might be interested in buying a new Hartzell Blended Foil prop let me know. I live near Dallas.
Thanks for any help on this.

Wayne,
I may be interested in your prop. Do you have it now? How much do you want? You can respond offline.

Hmmm, 2-blade Hartzell for 6050 from Van’s.
Jim,
Maybe throw in the assembled shipping to make up for more price difference and 2-3 knots of airspeed loss? Ramp appeal and a lighter weight only get you so far for that much extra $$.

You need to ask.
If you purchase an MT Propeller during the airshow week, there is a 10% airshow discount from list price at the MT Propeller booth.
At Oshkosh and at Sun-N-Fun.

This really is a "mission profile" decision. If you want top end speed go with the Hartzell. If you want climb out performance and a little smoother engine go with an MT. If you want both just combine the cost of each and get an Aerocomposite. None of them are a bad prop, just depends on what you are looking for. I want climb performance and will be going with an MT.

One thing I would like to say about MT (at) OSH, it would be nice if they
had US distributors man their booth. I went in there asking questions
and was basically given the model number and shoved out of the booth by
a little annoying German guy. If they didn't have a good history I
would have changed my mind on the spot. Something to take back to them
Jim.

Be careful putting your lower cowl on an off with the MT prop. Wrap the prop packing cover with duck tape - the piano henges can do some serious damage. Don't ask me how I know.

Jim Erslick has a neat little mod for this problem. For those of you that don't know, it was Jim and Debbie that built her -10 together. Jim cut a removable panel out of the scoop to allow the cowl to drop lower and aid in getting it past the 3blade prop. He has started building another -10 for himself and is looking at just making the entire scoop removable. I'm not sure what my options will be yet on the James cowl.

Just keep this in mind.... I don't know what0 happens when you buy directly from a US supplier, but on the props my buddy and0 I ordered from MT at OSH last year, we were hit with a $1000 shipping and import0 charge, then in April Mr. Michigan Taxman shipped us a bill for an additional 6%0 for Michigan sales tax..... $10,000 * .06 = $600.....
I'm guessing you would not have to pay all0 this if it was already in the US and shipped from a US address.....

Geez, welcome to our world. Try an0 exchange rate as low as 65 cents to the Ozzie dollar, 10% GST and overseas0 freight charges. Your $150K RV10 could cost us as much as0 $275K.

One of the USA MT distributors tried to "lock out" other USA MT0 distributors from manning the MT Propeller booth. I know this, because I0 had been invited to work in the MT Propeller booth in a rotation program that MT0 Propeller had just started.
This other USA MT distributor made it very difficult for the MT Propeller0 owner, Gerd Muhlbauer, and the other MT Propeller employees. So much so,0 that only MT Propeller employees are now allowed to work in the0 booth.
I felt that the time I spent working in the MT Propeller booth at the0 airshow gave me a much better insight into the product, the company and the0 people. I feel that the plan to rotate all of the USA distributors0 through the MT Propeller booth was a very good idea.
Unfortunately, one egocentric USA distributor destroyed this for all of the0 other USA MT distributors. And also for potential MT Propeller0 customers.
MT Propeller USA in DeLand, Florida, is owned by MT Propeller. The0 people from MT Propeller USA will be manning the MT Propeller booth at0 Sun-N-Fun next year.
I believe they are all native USA, or have been here to long to still0 be considered German.
Regards,
Jim Ayers
