Good evening group, This is the time of year when it is good
to live in the NE. This evening would have been a great one for
balloonists, cool, crisp, 30.3"Hg. Too good to resist, Kolb full
of gas and bugs (dabbers again?) cleared from the airspeed
tubes. I made my first one notch takeoff. Worked great, lessened
my ground roll by at least 30%. I landed at a neighbor's strip,
(Hatz owner) which needed a good mow job, to show him my plane.
The sun was hitting the edge of the earth when I left. His strip
is a humpback with an uphill run either way. Flaps again,
through the grasping red clover and I broke ground nicely at
the top of the hump. Retract the flaps and climb nicely at 45.
That glassy air is pure magic.
I'm a flaps convert now.
