<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Hi John,

Is it a float or capacitance system? Do you have a manual for it. Looks0 like the wiring needs to be replaced at a minimum. Can you pull the unit out and0 inspect it? That's what I would do to see if it can be repaired or you need to0 replace it, IMHO.

Guy,

No manual. Saw no float when cleaned0 the jugs on arrival. Not sure about pulling the unit. No comprehension of0 how the unit fits in or is held in ...Will wait until I use the bulk of the fuel0 that is in the crossfeed jugs since am going to a different oil0 anyway when this is expended. Some of the Kolbers have me worried about mixing0 oils.
Thanks,

jsf

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> John,
It's most likely a float system, with the actual float concealed inside a0 tube. I could be wrong, though, Sounds like maybe the float is sticking if it0 works fine above half a tank. If it's a capacitance system, there will be two0 adjustment screws either on the gauge, or the sending unit. One for EMPTY, and0 one for FULL. You set your gauge to Zero with the EMPTY screw and empty tanks,0 and to Full with the FULL screw and full tanks.

From the looks of your picture, though, a good cleaning, inspection, and at0 least a wire terminal replacement will probably solve your problem. I work with0 float and capacitance type systems on the helicopters I maintain. Mostly capacitance.

Best Regards,
Guy Morgan

The arm could be stuck. Take your guage out. Then move the arm up and down.
If your fuel guage moves then your arm was probably stuck or the short is on
the sender side. If the guage doesn't move when you move the arm then your
short is on the guage side. If you replace the guage then go with one with
numbers near 30-250ohm. I forget the exact numbers but those are real close.
