I don't anneal any of the copper washers. What I do is look at them after
removal. You will see that the washer is slightly cambered one way or the
other from the compression on it. All I do is simply turn it 180 so the
camber is pointing up and torque to specs. If memory serves its between 19
and 30 fp on the Lycoming IO-360. I go with the higher value. I never had
any problems using this method. Spark plugs are on condition type thing, if
they are good keep using it. I got 700 hrs on one set once. I average about
500 hrs, and even then they are still usable. Would be nice to be able to
use car plugs as they are cheaper, but the FAA and tradition is in the way
of good progress as usual.
