Gentlemen:

I am assembling a YAK 52 I just acquired and I need to get strobe/nav wire through the wings prior to installing the wings to fuselage. What are recommendations to do this? Through leading edge or through the inspection hole. Should the wire be put into some type of flexible tubing?

thanks

Robert:

I fished the cables for the Wheelen nav/strobe units via a 1/2" schedule 40 pvc pipe anchored at the flap bay, mid wing inspection plate and at the wing tip. The pvc does not touch any moving part, does not vibrate or rattle. The three points of attachment (adel clamps) seem quite adequate - it has been in place for about 500 hours of fairly aggressive operation.

I ran the cables through the flap bay - as I recall there are holes or gaps in the structure that work nicely. I used a combination of silicone and tie wraps to secure. I installed rubber grommets where I entered the fuselage. There is a perfect mounting area for the power pack in the left wing accessible when you remove the lower wing fairing (yes all 12 dozen screws!).

I would be glad to try some pictures this weekend if you want.
