Ok, I've got a couple more questions on the elevator for the 701. I'm just
finishing it up. I went to place the outside hinge plates on the elevator
(sorry I don't have part numbers, I'm at the office...) and I cannot get the
plate to fit between my two elevator tip rib rivets (the ones that rivet the
tip rib to the spar angle) Anybody else run into this problem, and would it
be ok to shorten the hinge plates? (it would be approximately 5mm each side)
Second, just to verify, on the center hinge bolt setup, there is NO washer
between the bolt head and the elevator hinge bracket? This seems odd to me,
but that is the way it is shown in the drawings. Also, is the elevator
bracket bolt hole supposed to be an interference fit? (The threaded part of
the bolt will fit, but I will need to use the nut to draw the rest of the
bolt into the hole when in comes time, I cannot push it in with my fingers)
I can see myself swearing at that bolt if I ever need to take the elevator
off in the future!!
