We finally have our shop and tools ready, so we can start building.

I have a question regarding rudder construction. In the workshop, the
vertical tail horn, fairing, and the upper bearing are not installed. I
know that we are supposed to wait to install the upper bearing until we
install the rudder on the fuselage, to get the proper positioning. How
about the tail horn and fairing - do we need to wait on those also, or can
they be installed now?

Also, I noticed that plans page 6-T-5 shows a fiberglass rudder fairing for
the top of the rudder, (my plans page is dated 02/05). Is this an optional
item, or should we have gotten a fiberglass fairing instead of the aluminum
tip rib when we built our rudder at the Aug. '05 workshop? Our kit did not
include this fairing, and it was not shown in the packing list.

Thanks in advance,

Dave,
I started with my XL rudder about this time last year. I did not recieve
the fiberglass upper rudder fairing either, when I called ZAC about it they
told me it was completly optional. I left the aluminum tip rib in place.

I have not attached the bottom rudder fairing or the upper bearing as of yet
either, (I plan to wait till it is mounted on the fuse.) I did go ahead and
attach the rudder horn though.

Dont forget to leave a no rivet zone for your lower fairing untill it is
mounted!!

good luck
