 I don't see why it wouldn't work but the absolutely only way to answer this  is to contact Nick or Roger.  If the firewall dimensions have changed for  the XL an HDS builder like me can only guess.

  

 Not to step on anyone's toes or to reopen the debate but I love my header  tank, would not be without it.  Were I to build another 601 I'd put one in;  probably try to con Larry Mac into making me one.

  

 W&B might be toward the forward envelope if you're using a heavy engine  - with Rotax or Jabiru it's no issue.
