Hi,
Need a bit of help! I am trying to get my wiring back in control and neatened up for my inspection. I found a bunch of wires that were not connect to anything at one end and apparently are not doing anything. The only thing that isn't working on the plane is the "tiny teach". Can anyone tell me what the wire that I have my finger on does? I have looked in my manuals and cannot find a reference to it. The original wiring dates back to 97.

Apparently I shot off my finger without thinking it through. I did finally find that it is the tack wire. However when I hooked up the EIS it said to use one of the yellow and black wires coming out of the rectifier rather than the gray wire as you would then be able to do a dual magi check. Apparently it serves no useful purpose in this application. Sorry!

The "Tiny Tach" is triggered by a wire wrapped around one of the spark plug wires between the coil and the plug cap. When you do a mag check, you get to see the rpm's of one mag, the other you listen to, and see if it sounds about right.
The thick pink wire in your picture looks like a good candidate for the pickup application. Does it go to the "Tiny Tach?"

Check that red wire, if it's hot tape it and/or heat-shrink wrap it.

Yes it does. I checked it today and every thing seems ok, but I replaced the ground wire to see if that was the problem.
