Drear day so I started planning some trips. It seems I need to depart from and return to a Customs and Excise designated airport from the Channel Islands but all the ones marked on the Border controls table seem potentially to charge the earth and are not interested in GA like Bournemouths £50 landing/handling fee.
Oxford would seem to be possible (£20 or £12) but isn't actually on the list.
Anyone flow there recently and found an economical solution? I am Bedfordshire based.

Not sure where you fly from but most small GA Airfields have agreements with the Local Border Control and you can use the GA Declaration form on the AOPA UK Website.
I fly from Brimpton and follow that procedure.

Ta Alan, however Brimpton is OK for Europe but for Channel Isles it has to be a customs and excise designated airport which Brimpton is not.
The Channel Isles are are outside Europe for C & E purposes.
The list in the guidance is out of touch though and includes, Filton, Manston, Blackpool.

Actually, you could be right... if the Channel Islands are specifically included in Brimpton's Certificate of Agreement.
I which case I could drop by Brimpton.

I don’t have the certificate to hand but I used to fly out of Wycombe and Old Sarum to Ci with no problems.
Have to admit only just located JT at Brimpton so would need to check for myself as well now you’ve brought it up.

Unless things have changed, which is entirely possible, I understood the requirement to use a customs airfield only applies if you do not give 24 hours notice- Sue and I have done it from Bicester without problems.

What I have done in the past is to fly out to the Channel Isles via France, typically Le Havre or Cherbourg, which means you can claim your £20-30 fuel duty drawback for the sake of a half hour stop and €10 landing fee (both leg flight plans filed at the same time) and then return direct to Laddingford with all the paperwork submitted 24+ hours before.
Don't forget to do everything through the Jersey Aero Club if you are going to Jersey.
