I just purchased a Ro-tec E-Mag for my 3300. It uses 3.5 amps of current in cruise. If you have a transponder, radio and whistles and bells you might run the battery down while a long taxi or wait time. I found out shortly after I bought the Ro-Tec that Jabiru makes an e-mag that uses current to enhance the spark only on start and it then reverts back to the standard magneto and draws no current. I do not know the part number nor have I been able to find it on the net. It would make sense to me for Jabiru to promote it due to the hard start problems some of us have experienced. I would have bought the Jab if I had known about it in time.
Has anyone heard of it or using it?

Here's a link to the old version of Jabiru's website. It lists the cold start kit a bit down the page:

Jabiru's is indeed more sophisticated, it leaves the autonomous characteristics of both ignition circuits intact and only adds a helper circuit that needs battery power during the actual start.

Hey Bobby, thanks for the heads up. That is the first time I heard that Jabiru admitted that the
charging circuit was inadequate . I think I’ll keep searching a proper igniter for the right side of
my Jabiru. Bob Haas N380BH.

Bob,
I am stunned.. How on earth did you arrive to the conclusion that Jabiru admitted to anything?? They build an engine with a generator that delivers 10A (early 2200 engines) or 20-25A in cruise. It does not charge under ~1600rpm, so when taxiing or idling, your battery needs to carry the electric load.
You have to do your own math if your electric load fits within that envelope. Get a battery to match that load for the time you anticipate running without charging. Or get an alternator that charges at low rpm. The Rotec you bought will do that, as will the CAMit. Last alternative is modifying the Jabiru generator coil so it starts charging around at ~800rpm. I find that a 3.5 amp load for an ignition circuit to be a bit heavy..... But then I am suspicious of Rotec.
One of the virtues of the lawn mower ignition of Jabiru is that it is simple and self-contained. Jabiru's own start-boost sounds good to me.
