Gary,
I like this. It'd be lighter and could have much less drag associated with it inside the cowl and might work out to increase exit velocity. What's not to like?
I wonder if this would work with it?
Probly not but sure is pretty!

I saw something like that on an RV. We need to remove the nose gear and cut a channel in the floor.
