For whatever reason I have not been flying very much this spring. I decided yesterday that it was time to fix that, and Went to check things out. I flew for 1 hour and 36 minutes. I burned 4.5 gallons of fuel and averaged 67 MPH.

I attempted ( and most likely failed ) to keep every one happy with this video. I left in some engine noise for Pat Ladd, turned the music volume way down, but the video is most likely too long for our short attention spans. Smile
The Desert looks good. Puddles of water scattered all around. Lots of vegetation growth. Of course with the temps going into the triple digits this next week will make great fire fuels. I expect to get sent out on some of the fires that are beginning to pop up here in the West as the days get warmer, so I felt that I had better fly while I could.

Larry,
great video as usual. The low flying sequences were super. I think you must have misunderstood my post about engine noise. The only thing which I mentioned was the fact that I could not hear your commentary which is what brings the whole thing to life and is much too good to miss. I notice you took a long take off run at part throttle to get the engine noise on record before opening up and leaping into the air and then tuning it out. I feel the I know your part of the country really well. Pity that I shall never actually see it. Ah well!

Thanks again

Cheers

Pat

Actually when I first started doing these, you mentioned that you would like to hear the engine. I of course said in return that those that wanted engine noise, could make noise sounds with their mouth. I am surprised that you didn't remember that smart assed remark. Smile
The reason for the long runup was to get the last 5 degrees of engine temps.
Take care,
Larry

<<I am surprised that you didn't remember that smart assed remark. Smile>> No I didn`t remember that at all. Ho Ho!. Called in at my old gliding club this afternoon. Things have changed. 500km triangles now seem to be commonplace. In my day to make a 300 kms was pretty good 500k was exceptional. Now they talk of 750 kms Mind you I had a state of the art machine.19 metre wingspan and about 40miles from a mile high in a straight glide. Now they have 23 mtre span and 50plus miles from a mile high. They also have little motors which means that when we were faced with a blank looking area we would turn back rather than land out they now press on and if they come unstuck they just pull their little engine out from the fuselage, windmill start it and fly on. Does wonders for your confidence having a motor as back up. Cheating I call it. Prices of gliders is now in the tens of thousands whereas our early 2 seater in the club(about 50 years ago) was around £400. I could buy a squadron of Kolbs for the price of a glider. Stop the world I want to get off.
Cheers

Pat

Excellent video as usual, thank you. Also, IMO you have great taste in music, and have introduced me once again to an artist I was not familiar with.
