Greetings,

My name is Steve and I'm currently getting a CJ-6 flying that's been sitting a while.
My father bought a CJ from Yakkity back in '97, flew it for a while and then had some health issues. The airplane sat for 5 or 6 years and I've finally talked him into getting it running again. We pushed it to the wash rack, drained the old fuel, in the process of changing the oil and giving it a serious going through.

My biggest question has to do with books. We have the set of five blue parts manuals from Fred but Dad said there was a Flight Manual which we can't find. I talked to Doug Sapp and Byron Fox. Byron said he'd look around and Doug sold me a set of maint. books.

Does anyone have a copy of the FOM or know where I might get a copy?

In addition, if you've got any words of wisdom about what to watch for while we get this thing ready to fly, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Steve Jones

My 2 cents:

Get the airplane inspected and certified by a mechanic that knows CJs or,Yaks.

Get a CJ pilot to fly it before you do. And get formal instruction on the plane. Specially if you want to do acro work.
It will, save you money and keep you and your plane in one piece.

No matter how much you wash it, it will never look as handsome as a yak. But welcome aboard.

Good looking aircraft. A shame it has sat so long. Take your time, become familiar with the aircraft and systems, get tied into a local group and most importantly, have fun. Welcome aboard. P.S. Even before you washed it, it was looking better than a YUK. Oops, I meant to say YAK! On Jun 16, 2015 8:41 AM, "Steve Jones" <727gs(at)db3broadband.com (727gs(at)db3broadband.com)> wrote:[quote]
