Hello Jesse, Thank you for the suggestion.
Probably would not work because the 638225 bushings are not tapered their entire length, but just tapered for a portion on each end. The center section is a cylinder.
Also after the bushing has been in use for a while it can usually be stuck to the interior of the crankcase mounting boss and will be partially disintegrated during removal. I use Dow DC-4 during installation to help solve that problem, but it is not always effective.

OC, As you well know I;m not a guru for fixes but if the bushings are tapered, why couldn't you loosen one of them at a time, slide it back, cut a inter tube to make one wrap, coat it with silicone grease and pull it back into position. This would give more area for the softer bushing to ride on and bring the mount back up to correct position.
Just want to share a thought,

Your approach is very innovative and similar to the rubber donut gear cushions in some Mooney and Beechcraft (Sierra) airplanes. See here:

I’ll probably try cutting up some rubber hose material to get the tubular elastomeric parts for the small CM (Continental Motors) engine mounts. See reference number 1 in this schematic:

I used hockey pucks for my Variviggen's gear cushions and they worked like a charm. I would like to suggest this for you mounts. Take one on a drill press, preferably a bridgeport, drill your center hole. Then chuck up a hole saw thats oversize of the smaller cylinder area. Cut that one out. Then put a bolt, watered up, tightened down. Chuck this up in your drill press and turn it down with a flat file against it bringing it down to diameter size. Next make cut and make the larger cylinder the same way. File them down to thickness on the drill press. When the center holes were cut make them oversize to accommodate a steal tube that the mounting bolts would go in so both hockey puck pieces would mount on. You could file this, turning on the drill press, to the exact size that could be forced in the mounting holes. When pulled down this would further fill the hole and for a tight fit.
These pucks are made with fiber that don't come apart. I would think they would outlast almost anything.
