Like Frank said, it is extremely important to get someone to look over your Kolb, especially an experienced Kolb owner and flyer. If you can't get a Kolb guy to look at it, anyone with aircraft building and flying experience will be better than nothing.
My first airplane I built back in 1984, was a Kolb Ultrastar. I had never used Nico-press sleeves and cable before. From the instructions I thought I had squeezed them correctly. Brother Jim came up to take a look at my new creation, immediately discovered I had squeezed the wrong way. They were all set up to fail. Had he not taken a look at my US, I would have probably flown it that way. Very similar mistake to the gentleman that lost his life because he failed to install the lift strut bolt in the wing. Kind of scary, even after all these years.
