Hi all fellow PV50 peeps,
I was caught yesterday with the battery drain in the controller, so that I couldn't fine pitch the propellor. I didn't fly as this was caught on the ground run up.
I am not sure which model controller (Mk1 or Mk2) I have, but it has a pack of 6 x 1.5 volt batteries in it; so just a simple battery replacement should see me in the air today.
Last night, though I was thinking about it...
Is there any reason 6 x 1.5V batteries would give any better improvements over a straight 9V battery?
I thought about the deliverable current, but they are in series, so therefore there is no summation of the current only the voltage. The 1.5V batteries are rated to 1300mAh and so is a straight 9V box battery.
The other thought I had, but I need to sit and work on this, is could a small 12V to 9V DCDC converter be installed to keep the battery pack charged up from the mainbus. Then this should completely get rid of the battery drain problem.
Regards
Jon
