|

Hi
During my annual I decided to put *some* insulation in my -10 while the interior was removed. I have insulated the forward sidewalls, the lower half of the firewall and the tunnel floor. All of the insulation is easily removed for inspection.
I do have limited access behind the panel and am wondering if there is any advantage to insulating the areas I can access.
Any comments?
Merry Christmas!

What did you insulate with and how did you attach to firewall?

Hi
I used 1/2" thick fiber based insulation I had on hand (bought from a car upholstery shop). It has a thin foil coating in either side. I sealed the edges using 1.75" aluminum tape. Cut slightly oversize, it has a bit of a pressure fit. The tape also provides some rigidity. I also used some aluminum tape to hold it in place on each of the sides on the firewall.
I did not use and adhesive or contact cement.
It will be interesting to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't, it is easily removed.
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah!

thanks Les. I really didn't want to use an adhesive either. I think I'll follow your lead.

Carl
Your insulating likes similar to what I used. A very nice produce. You can also get the aluminum tape at the Home Depot Aviation Department in the duct / heating aisle.
I have found a bazillion uses for aluminum tape when building. It is good to always have some on hand.
Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah
