According to Roger Heisdorffer, who has built a few of each (kind of a business for him) and has owned both of them, (Glasair, Glastar, RV-9), the RV's wing loading is such that it will pound the daylights out of you in turbulence.

When flying my Glasair and hear pilots talk about turbulence, I ask; "what turbulence?!!"
