Well, I tested my system for leaks today.

The boost pump brought the pressure right up, past 25, past 35, beyond the 40 max scale I had set on the EFIS.

So turned it right off. Could bleed pressure down into readable range by cracking mixture. Let it hold for an hour at 25, no problem. With that I believe the system is leak-free.

However, it would appear that the relief valve return of fuel to the system intake is not working.

Has anyone else seen this? Do I need a new relief valve from Airflow? I gather there is no servicing the relief valve.

First I would verify that you have the correct sender and the correct setting. If you have the 15 psi sensor and setup for the 50 psi unit, then you would get exactly what you are seeing.

Thanks Jesse. I have the Kavlico, purchased separately from Dynon, so that certainly is possible. Will check part numbers.

There have been instances of the wrong sensor in the bag for fuel pressure. I had 1 or 2 15 PSI sensors packaged as 50 PSI, IIRC.

To close the loop, after I verified I had the right pressure sensor, I called

Airflow Performance, since I suspected the relief valve all along.  They told me how to take apart the valve (didn't look like it came apart). Since I did not want to try that operation in the tunnel, I removed the pump from the tunnel (sure glad I installed side access panel). Took apart the valve, tapped the body on the bench, and all the inards came out. Didn't see crude, but cleaned everything anyway. Gave a light coating of triflow to keep parts from sticking until fuel got flowing. Got everything reinstalled, checked all the flare nuts for torque, then turned fuel back on, held my breath, and turned on boost pump. Voila, steady 26-27 psi, everything working fine. I surmise that the fact I bought my fuel pump and filter from another builder who was headed in different direction, and they sat for 3 yrs after that, the moving parts just lodged with spring pressure inside the valve and needed to be feed up. The main two pieces of information I got from Airflow is that the valve comes apart with 2 ea 13/16 wrenches, and to NOT remove valve from the pump as that connection is likely to gall in reassembly. Thanks for the various suggestions,.

Moving on.....
