With respect, Dan’s tips for starting a Yak could be a bit confusing since:

*For some extraordinary reason the "left" and "right" positions on the primer are not uniform amongst all aircraft! You therefore need to be specific and refer to "cylinder" in which you are pumping fuel directly into the cylinders and have a real risk of over priming, and indeed hydraulic-lock, and "system" where you are pumping fuel into the carburettor and you can pump as much as you like since excess will return to the tank.

*He mentioned "clean oil valve" – presumably meaning a manifold oil drain system, but this could be confusing to those owners who don't have such systems fitted to the aircraft

*Surely the "shower of sparks" is connected directly to the starter button, and as soon as it is released, will stop working. So no need to turn it off?
