Bob,

Thank you for the schematic, I had not seen that before. It did not occur to me to search your site. I just expected that B&C would have had the relevant schematic for an item they sold or would have been able to tell me how it worked. They were not able to do either.

Which is typical of the vast majority of
catalog suppliers. B&C has a stable of
products developed in house for which they
are truly the first choice for information
and clarifications. But their effort to minimize the
builder's time, talents and resources to
select, acquire and integrate parts for
the whole electrical system means there
will be some things in their catalog for which
not everything is known . . . you'll find
the same situation on components offered by
Aircraft Spruce, Wicks, et. als.

The AeroElectric Connection book, website
and list-server were conceived as adjuncts
to the manufacturing effort where design and
troubleshooting data can be gathered together
and discussed in open forum. Much of what
appears in the book and on the website was
generated as a result of discussions . . .
data that would not have been added had the
questions not been asked.

B&C and crew are the hardware guys who are
pretty darn good at what they do. You, I and
the List membership are the idea guys who
are pretty good at sifting the sands of
properties of materials and management
of energy to integrate anybody's parts into
a low risk system.

I might add too that 'labels' guarantee
nothing. There were some concerns expressed
that the S702-1 was missing a 'country of
origin' stamp. I've spent about 20 hours in
the last week analyzing failure of an alternator
labeled "FAA PMA" wherein diodes presumably
pressed into heat sinks are literally falling
out of their holes.

This product was sold by a company with all
the ISO9000 floobydust, QA Manuals, work
instructions and bonded stockrooms needed
before any potential customer would step
into their building . . . so much for labels.

As members of the OBAM aviation community,
we can bolt ANYTHING to the airplane as a low-
risk experiment . . . as long as we take pains
to do failure tolerant design . . . only
then will the veracity of the labels become
insignificant.

Bob,

You have missed my point entirely.
It’s one thing for the supplier to tell a customer that they do not have the requested information and/or are unable to obtain it.
It’s quite a bit different and somewhat arrogant when the supplier refuses to provide the information.
Almost as though they could not be bothered….Angier Ames

Understand . . . it's an important bedside manner issue.

It would be useful to you to take this up with
Nathan . . . or I can if you wish . . .
