Smart Ass 3 on order after seeing David J's picture and hearing all about it (not £100 though David).
Had tried to order before but it was out of production/being revamped or something.
Permit revalidation also arrived today after Autopilot test results were approved by the LAA.
Its tally ho boys.
BTW enjoyed the Europa Bash at Kenilworth, good seminars, good conversation, pool and food

The Smart Ass can alert on undercarriage still up with a switch/sensor. Has anyone installed one? Maybe a hall effect or reed switch on the swing arm or on the retraction leaver I guess. I suppose a micro switch would be a bad idea as it can get wet in the wheel well.

Graeme, I have a micro switch in the detent so that it only gets activated when the wheel is down and locked. It is a waterproof microswitch and has never given any problem.

Graeme,
I have had a micro switch on the outrigger mechanism for 16 years now with no problems. They seem pretty well sealed. I have also linked it to the SmartAss since I fitted that last year.

Bit late on this one, but on my monowheel in Kenya I have fitted the microswitch in the retract bay, and the contact plate on the LG08(L). The contact plate only contacts the switch when the LG08 is overcentre, and in contact with the pad on the landing gear mounting frame; and therefore when the whole system is properly locked. A green light is activated on the panel to show gear locked. A microswitch on the retraction lever or in the gate only tell you when the retraction lever is in the gate; any slack in the system, and the lever might be in the gate, but the LG08 is not overcentre. It all works fine, except when the microswitch got covered in wildebeest crap, landing on a bush strip in the annual Serengeti/ Mara wildebeest migration...

Here is a picture my system:
- a reed relay in the gray heat shrink
- a magnet that only activates the reed relay when the gear lock is down
The reed relay is connected to a small box with an arduino that reads out the serial stream of a Dynon D10A (for speed and climb information) and lights up a dual color led on my panel according to the following scheme:

Just looking at your annunciation "truth table" in your gear_scheme_624.gif.
Shouldn't line 7 warn if the condition is "high speed gear DOWN"?

(at)Nigel, red blinking is the annunciation that you are above 160knots (about Vne) for line 7. In this case, gear is up.
When gear is down and above 80knots, line 3 becomes relevant and the annunciation is green blinking.
So basically when something is wrong with speed/gear, you get a blinking led.
When the situation is "normal", you get a steady led: red for gear up and green for gear down.

Thanks for the clarification Jacques, I can see that now, and spotted
line three after I posted. I'm just about to fit a SmartAss myself so
have an interest.
