Hello All.

Wow, what a great response, thanks for all the information.

I am a member of the Europa club and just had a look at the page with the links to various weather sites, very good!

David, I could not open the file you mentioned, would it be possible for you to email it to me directly?

I think I will route to Troyes for my first French landing as my final destination is further south, a small field near Moissac, just north of Toulouse.

Regards,

Glenn Perry

Glenn
Good choice imho, it's a while since I crossed the channel but I often noticed that there was low cloud, either on
the French side or the English one. I used to fly from Tatenhill to Troye, about 3 hours 20 ish.

Much easier to cross at a reasonable height instead of scud running. Safer too

Where would you suggest I clear customs/Immigration into France, bearing in mind that I speak no French?

I would strongly suggest that you restrict the target fields to those where you can use English over the radio.
Most small and medium fields in France are "Radio mandatory" and "French only".

Hi Gilles,
Troyes is a great airfield to clear into France. A word of advice, don't arrive during their lunch period (I think from 12:30 till !5:00 local) as the airfield has no ATC during this period and hence you will require to give and receive traffic information in French.  When air traffic is available English is spoken.

Great restaurant in the arrivals/departures hall
