|
|
Hi all,The Harmon Rocket I look after has bent the tail wheel fork and we are wondering what to replace it with as we cannot positively ID what model and P/N the darned thing is. I am not prepared to take a guess and have a new fork shipped out at great cost only to be wrong so replacement with a good proven, strong one of known P/N might be the best way forward.
The aircraft has a RV4 tail wheel stinger fitted and the owner would like as big a wheel as possible for rough strip operations (although I must admit I am concerned to large a diameter might cause more rudder strikes with associated damage!)
Any recommendations out there on what we should use?
All thoughts gratefully and graciously considered!
Regards, Jay

Jay,
Visit Flyboy Accessories (http://www.flyboyaccessories.com). They’ve got a good selection and lots of extra parts that should fit the Rocket with no problems. They carry great tailwheels too. Works well on my F1 Rocket.

Gday Jay!
My HR2 had the exact same setup. I removed the spring and sawed off the 90 degree bend. Then, using a lathe turned the end until the taper was removed and would slide into an API tailwheel. I like the API tailwheel personally but Vince"s Fly boy TW is equally "Sierra Hotel".
I did purchase my tail wheel from Vince as its light and has a neat hubcap I polished for the "retro" look. I also purchased the dual stainless steel adjustable springs from Vans instead of the single Rod "rocket link" as my rough turf strip made short work of it. Here are links to all three products:
