Bob N.,
I read with great interest your comments regarding recommendation of the 15 volt 400 Watt Chinese Power Supply for aircraft ground power usage: http://tinyurl.com/zbn5g6m
My buddy is toying with the idea of spending about $800 for a commercial unit and I would like to recommend a unit similar to your recommended device from the same e-Bay guy, but rated 27 volts 400 Watt output.

At 32 bucks, this seems like one heck of a bargain, but what is troubling me is the lack of output over-voltage protection. I would sure hate to be responsible for the demise of my friends expensive aircraft electronics. I was wondering if I should try to rig up some sort of external crowbar type of over-voltage protection system on the output side that would pop a fuse in series with the output to open the circuit. Also wondering if the sudden voltage collapse would tend to damage anything - power supply or aircraft parts.
Any recommendations? Thank you for your always valuable input.

Jerry,
I bought the unit Bob suggested and it works PERFECT ! now I will say I have it on an external power jack (with a relay to connect it to the system, as described in Bob's book) that has a crow bar Over voltage unit ( I think I bought it from B n C )
So no worries there about overvoltage
Jeff.
