I'm guessing they want it done before the next flight so they can get an idea of how many people of various models are going to have this problem. Once we have maybe 100 Rv10's report back, you should have a good idea if it'll be an issue or not. Tim

If no cracks have been found then why is the service bulletin do before the next flight and not at the next inspection

The most nagging thing about this SB is:
1) There have been no cracks found in the RV-10, per the SB.
2) Aileron removal is needed to inspect the RV-10.
3) If nothing is found, then put it all together again and take it all apart next year.
4) The icing on the cake is this one:

NOTE: Completion of the modifications in this service bulletin as a preventative measure (prior to cracks being detected) on wings that have been fully assembled is not recommended
Finding cracks may be a good thing so you can at least close out the inspection cycle instead of taking it apart over and over again until you find something.
I wish they'd just give us a preventative fix that could be inspected in the future without removal.

HI

Does anyone know the genesis for this SB? It seems like something that the average annual inspection might not catch.

Cheers

Les
