Ernie,

This could easily be a case of 20/20 hindsight. There have been quite a variety of recommendations from many folks right here on this list of exactly what to inject into the air system. It runs quite the gamut, from ACF-50, to pneumatic air tool oil (I fell prey to that one), to castor oil, to alcohol, WD-40, and a mix of many I have not mentioned. There are indeed task cards somewhere that call for the injection of a mix, and I am sure someone can remember those details since this topic comes up every year or so. I think Jan does it, and several other Yak owners. I personally do not, not after having the landing gear actuator seals fall apart from having put air tool oil into my system. What I do now is not for publication since I don't want others to blame me if it goes wrong for them!

Point it, it is entirely possible that Avcraft was following what they felt was good advice from experts on this very list! It is ALSO possible that the previous aircraft owner having read about the "expert advice" from so many, that he TOLD them to do it, and they made a logbook entry accordingly.

Point of fact is that it might at least be worth asking them about before making a total condemnation.

Mark

p.s. I am not voting for Hillary Clinton.
