Hello everyone

New Yak 52 owner on the list. I was advised that this would be a good forum to discuss all things Yak and more because someone here has probably experienced or seen it before. So here goes.

After the last flight, I was not able to get the engine to idle any lower that 40%. Subsequent run-ups indicate the problem is still there. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before.

Also, would anyone know where one could obtain a tool kit for the Yak 52. The previous owner did not have one.

Thank you

Stefan

Stefan-It is quite possible that the outer part of the throttle push-pull housing moved in it's clamp, or the clamp may have moved on the engine mount tube.  Sometimes a thin shim is required to prevent the clamp ears from being bolted tightly together, allowing the clamp to tightly grip the outer housing or engine mount, respectively.

Stefan:: I had that happen long ago. What caused it was a n air leak in the induction system. The engine had drain tubes installed in the three lower intake tubes. One of the fittings had broken which caused a leak in the induction system.  As soon as I put a temporary plug in the fitting the idle went back to 26%. When it was leaking I think the idle would not come down under about 38%. Or close to that value.
Also you might check the tightness of the induction tube gland nuts. Also gaskets wherE the tubes connect to the Cyls. Could also be a cracked induction tube. Good hunting
