It takes about 2 hours to build up air from 3 to 4??? (At cruise)
If I don’t have 4 minimum, engine won’t start.

Any ideas?

The first thing to check is to make sure your snot valve is 100% closed and not leaking.  Then check for leaks on the banjo fitting on the compressor, crush washers tend to leak sometimes if reused.  Also check the line and B nuts for cracks.  If the above are tight, and without leaks let me know.  I have built up a special test tool to check compressor output.  90% of the time the snot valve is the culprit.

Snot valve was re-machined several years ago. Pump was replaced at the same time.
I'll check it out.
Thanks.

On my CJ (if the snot valve is closed) and it starts doing this, it's time to service the air dryer/filter.

Two suggestions-
Remove the compressor output check valve and clean it thoroughly. You will need new crush washer when reinstalling.

Remove the snot bottle and black flush it with avgas through the input, output and drain fittings. You can submerge it in avgas and shake it around, then drain it. Repeat until what comes out is clear.

Cleaned the compressor check valve lately? Do you hear an air leak?
