Europas to Gather at Triple Tree Aerodrome (SC00) Woodruff, SC
June 3-5, 2016
Triple Tree is possibly the best grass strip in the US. At 7000 x 400 ft of golf course quality turf, it is renowned for being smooth. As a private field, landing is by permission only and occurs just a few times a year. There are camping sites with restrooms and showers, a fishing lake, gazebos, hiking trails through the woods and catered meals. Learn more about Triple Tree here: http://www.tripletreeaerodrome.com/index.php
Avoid the crowds at the annual Triple Tree Fly-In this fall, and join us at the RAF (Recreational Aviation Foundation) fly-in this June. There are activities and fly outs planned, and lots of just looking at and talking about airplanes. And you don’t even have to bring an airplane, there is room for motor homes or campers or you can get a room in town.
You do not have to be a member of RAF, but you do need to pre-register. Full details are here: http://theraf.org/civicrm/event/info?id=230&reset=1
We are planning to bring our flying dog Jethro and leave Triple Tree Sunday afternoon and fly to Ocracoke, NC, W95 for a couple of days. Everyone we talk to says it is a nice laid back place, just our speed! We hope you can join us there, too.
Any questions, email us at butcher43(at)att.net

We've heard from a couple of you that you can't come.
Is anyone besides us planning to attend?

The RAF fly-in at Triple Tree was really good. The food, the visit to the Biltmore estate, the RC demonstration, the after dinner talks and hanging out at the campfire with s’mores were all great! And boy, landing on that runway is unique – it is so wide and long that it is difficult to have a good reference for the centerline. Unfortunately, we were the only Europa of about 25 aircraft, but we answered a lot of questions from interested folks. The weather kept Rich Schultz from attending and we had some weather enroute. Weather at Triple Tree was clear and hot! Meeting up with Troy and Donna Maynor (Europa Classic N120EU) for lunch Saturday was a Europa bonus!
We flew over 12 hours on our extended trip and really love the performance of our Europa. We carried our camping gear, clothing and most importantly, our dog, Jethro. We have to really watch weight, but the Europa is still a great cross country machine, cruising (below 10K) around 150 kts TAS on 5.5 gph, even faster up high! We work hard to use only MOGAS as we did on this trip. We have 5 gal gas bags and at three instances we used a courtesy car to drive to town and purchase MOGAS. It really isn’t much of a problem.
We’re looking forward to Oshkosh and will announce the forum and other activities soon. Also mark your calendars for the AOPA Fly-In at Battle Creek, MI on Sept 16-17. Battle Creek is an airport of entry, so we hope to see many of our Canadian friends.
