A friend & I have just purchased a Firestar basket case, and I will be fabricating a fuselage cage from scratch. (!?!? yes, I know I am in over my head)
If anyone has pictures of their Firestar cage prior to covering, I would really appreciate it if you would send them to me; thegreybaron(at)charter.net.
Thanks!

Firestar, or Firestar II? I built the front half of an original Firestar, but I had all of the original parts (bent!) to go off of.

Original Firestar, 5 rib wing. The only usable cage parts are the rear verticals from the 1/2" bolt cluster up to the motor mount tube, the tube including the front and rear spar carry throughs. Also have the front tube ring with the landing gear leg sockets, it is reusable. Every other tube is severely bent, but they are there, and can probably be used for measurements.
So we will be fabricating a new cage based on the rear verticals, the top tube, and the gear leg sockets. Just hoping for some photos to keep around the workshop to help visualize better what it needs to look like, and make sure nothing gets overlooked.
It's good to be retired...

not.

I don't think so. I asked Travis about that over a year ago when I first got interested in this wreck, and it seems I would have had to furnish the specs for spar pickup points, as they did not have those any more.

However, looking at various pictures online this morning, it occurs to me - why not fashion the new cage after a Firefly cage? Simpler and probably lighter.

So - if anyone has any pictures of your naked Firefly cage you would like to contribute, I would be happy to have them. Failing that, I can wait until Bryan is making one, and ride up to the factory and get some there.

Firefly fuselage was based on the original FS fuselage.

Richard,

Let me know if you need any dimensions from Serenity and I will get them for
you.

Since I have no place to fly from this summer she is resting comfortably in
the camper parked in the driveway.

Herb; thank you so much. With what we now have to work with, it suddenly looks possible that we might actually have this thing flying by fall.
Stuart; once we start to jig things up, I will likely be pestering you.
John, thanks for all your experience.
The folks on this list are great. I am thankful to be a part of this group of people.
