From Salisbury newspaper:

"A MAN has died in a plane crash near Dinton today.
The light aircraft came down in a field near the village with two men on board.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene while a second man was cut free from the wreckage with a leg injury, South West Ambulance Service confirmed. It is understood the bright yellow and blue, civilian Yak-52 light aircraft was headed to Boscombe Down after taking off at around 10.15am.
It is also believed the plane was being used by the Empire Test Pilot School. The survivor was flown to Salisbury District Hospital via air ambulance".

The accident is under investigation by the UK AAIB but what I can say is that the aircraft was being operated by the Empire Test Pilots School; it had engine failure and the crew attempted a downwind landing but the aircraft actually impacted one wing down (possibly stalled) and then cart wheeled. The front cockpit occupant was thrown out with the impact and killed, while the rear cockpit occupant suffered leg and other injuries.

Clearly more information will become available.

Very sad news...

As with most accidents, the best thing we can do is learn and try to prevent the next one. That said, very curious as to how/why the front seater was ejected upon impact.
