I'm not sure what is going on. I tried to send the first one with the unfortunately bigger size pictures. ( I reduced them to 1500 which is the size that I normally do)I got a notice that the file size was too big and therefore not posted. I reduced even further and resent it. Then I get both of them as sent.





So sorry for the confusion.

Now I am confused. As I mentioned yesterday I had replaced my R/R and it was now charging. I decided to make a trip that I had been putting off for a long time. Now that every thing was working.



There is a group of Mtn's (hills) down South of me that runs for about 30 miles or more down into Nev. I decided to take 2.5 gallons of gas with me since the winds were reported to be about 10 MPH south. A bit faster above 6000 feet. I would be flying at about 8000 feet, so a little insurance was advisable.

I skipped breakfast and started off with just a cup of coffee. The RPM's were showing bright and clear for the first time in about a year. When I made my radio check with the wife, she could hear me fine, but all I got from her end was loud static. First time for that. The last time I checked the radio I was talking with the wife at 49 miles, clearly. Oh well, check it later.

The flight was uneventful, but spectacular. I wanted to check on the area to the West of McDermitt,Nv, for hawking possibilities ( rumoured to be great Sage Grouse area, and there was a ranch there I wanted to see. One of our Fire District guy's lives there in an area called Disaster Peak.

When I landed at McDermitt every thing was working fine. When I left, my RPM's were gone and the R/R wasn't charging. Sigh!

I will check it tomorrow perhaps. There was one good thing however, my radio was working and clear again.

That is a good photo of the Rock House at the end of the video.

 

The trail looks interesting.  Anxious to run it in the RZR.

 

Forgot to tell you all this afternoon about my other excitement.  Soon after I got home from Georgia, I went down to the laundry room for something.  To my surprise the laundry room was flooding.  Checked under the house and found the ice maker tubing had blown out of the fitting at the water line tap.  Always fun at hauck's holler.  Never a dull moment.  Waiting on things to get dull so I can relax.

  All three of those white wires from the stator have a common       ground...inside the stator rotor...That ground could be       intermittent...causing a loss of rpm,,, and generating some noise       in the radio..and loss of charge...Your radio is sending out 4 or5       watts which will mask static..but the receive part must capture a       micro volt signal and amplify...thus the noise..  Herb

Larry- From my days of chasing electrical problems on tractor trailers:  A dim bulb is a bad ground.  All of your problems sound like you need to clean all of your grounds, and check for a cracked or broken ground wire.  Good luck.

Yep...the fact that the battery is not charging...fairly isolates the 

problem...Stator, which likely has a common ground..,bad crimp 

connections in one of the molex connectors...sometimes the insulation is 

crimped but not the wire inside.. No tach really does take the problem 

back to the stator winding ground..or stator winding short... Herb
