Landing light lens installation kit needs to be modified so the lens fits tight. The edge of the lens tends to protrude and not fit flush on the wing rib side. The outside near the tip seam fits very well. It looks like the only we to make a nice smooth blend from the fiberglass to the lens is to build up the fiberglass. Has anyone had the same issue? Any recommendations on how best to fix the issue?

Sounds like you either did not have lens correctly oriented when you trimmed, or you haven't trimmed enough.
You can get higher quality, already mostly trimmed lens from Cee Bailey division of Desser Tire. They sell pre-trimmed replacement windows and windshield as well.

I completely agree. The quality I also better. I have their lens and windscreen and in both cases it clearer and “feels” more solid. With the lenses and the windscreen they come slightly larger to allow for final trim. It minimal work compared to cutting lenses in half and trimming and way less than the windscreen. In general, I highly recommend the tires, tubes, (basically the RV-10 kit) from Desser and the windows and lenses from Cee baileys, all the same site by the way and skipping the parts sent by Vans in kits.
Equal or less in price than Vans and better quality- also shipping for everything except the windscreen is usually free.
There is a dedicated site for Vans-http://www.vansaircrafttires.com/categories/RV%252d10/

Ask Pascal...IIRC he had to replace his Vans windshield. Having done Vans winshield myself, it is nothing to write home about, having replaced a fair number of windows//windshields on certified aircraft.

My windshield install back in '08 was a lot of work. As Tim noted, the right side was not even close to fitting. It took a huge amount of fiberglass work to get it faired in to make it look right. I replaced my landing light lenses a year or two ago due to crazing and fogging. I installed the Cee Bailey lenses and they were very close to a perfect fit. Took very little work and they seem to be a more substantial material and they still look like new. If I had to install another windshield, I would certainly look very closely at Cee Bailey.

My Vans windscreen was Aug 2007. No issues with windows or cowl. I thought
the fit went smoothly except for the Weldon adhesive.

My observation has been that the Van's subcontractors of parts have variable quality control. Some things are pretty good and others are just a big POS! My windows and screen fit pretty well but my nose gear fell (broke) off the plane.
I bought after market fairings from the South Africans because the quality of the kit parts from Vans was so bad. How much effort does it take to get it correct the first time?!?!
The good part is that it has helped establish a good number of boutique parts suppliers. Bad part is that it cost us more.
