To all those that are running the Jabiru in their Europa and are having a difficult time keeping their engines cool. I am at the end of my build of a Europa XS conventional gear with a Sensenich ground adjustable prop set on the number four position and am working on getting in my first flight. Yesterday was my first run on my engine. Without the cowls on I was able to run for about 10 minutes until the highest CHT neared 300’F. Today, with upper and lower cowls on, prop reset to number three position ( I couldn’t get past 2200RPM at full throttle), I was able to run for fifteen minutes with the highest CHT temps climbing to 275’F and staying there. During this time, I did a full throttle run-up for about 30 secs to test the prop reset position ( reached 2900 RPM). Throttled back down and just let her idle at 900 RPM until I finished all my tests and readings. The CHT remained steady at 275’F So, yes, it can be done.
