My right hand side uplock light is no longer lighting up when the gear is up.
It started with the light only coming on occasionally.
Then it would require me bumping a little negative G to make it come on.
A week later, it would come on after bumping a little G, but would flicker in flight.
Now it doesn't come on at all.
I've inspected the 2 brown sensors on the gear and both look to be in adjustment. It is not a bulb issue either.
Can someone please explain how the sensors work? It looks like both sensors are depressed when the gear is down, and not depressed when the gear is up. What tells the system that the gear is all the way up?
If a sensor issue, should I replace the sensor in the wing well or on the strut?
Or can these sensors be pulled apart and cleaned up?

There are no "sensors" as you call them. There are two micro switches on each gear leg. One on the drag link right in the center of the drag link and one mounted on the uplock assembly. The micro switch on the uplock assembly is the one that gives you the gear UP light. The micro switch on the drag link is the one that gives you the DOWN light.
There is a screw type adjustment that depresses the button on each micro switch. You can manually adjust them by loosening the lock nut on the end and turning the screw in or out as needed. Remove the cover over the uplock assembly and identify the micro switch and adjustment screw. With a straight blade screwdriver, depress the button on the micro switch and listen for the distinct "click". With someone in the cockpit and with the battery and gear toggle switches ON, depress the button on the micro switch and confirm the red light goes ON. The green light will remain on because the micro switch on the drag link is also engaged. Now, loosen the lock nut on the adjustment screw that depresses the button on the micro switch and turn the screw in (toward the button on the micro switch) about 1/2 to 1 turn. That places the head of the screw closer to the button on the micro switch. Tighten the lock nut on the adjustment screw.
If the adjustment does not fix the problem, you may have a malfunctioning micro switch.
Reinstall the uplock cover assembly.
Now you can either put the airplane on jacks and retract the gear to test the operation of the UP light or go fly the airplane.

Disregard my instruction for removing the cover on the uplock assembly.
That is only applicable to the standard 52 and the 52W. Not the TW.

Dennis,
Thank you very much.
I was thinking to myself, uplock cover? I thought maybe it was removed like my wheel spats were removed. Thank you for clarifying.
I'll give your suggestion a shot in the next couple of days!

Not to ask the obvious but have you confirmed your gear are coming fully up. I may have missed that if you said you did.
Was anyone on your wing to verify your gear position or have you swung the gear on jacks? The actuator may be leaking or your up lock parrot hook may not be engaged. Yes the sensor can be bad too. That is the last thing I would investigate though. Not sure I would fly it with a unsafe gear light.
That's just me though.

Viperdoc Yes, we have verified that the gear is coming all the way up on jackstands, uplocks are working correctly and barber poles are coming all the way up.

Copy. Then as Dennis said time to adjust the micro switch or replace it. You have done a wiring continuity check?

I don't think it's a wiring issue since he was able to lock the gear in the UP position by putting negative G on the airplane. 'Anything is possible though.
I believe he said the lamp would flicker on and off, which led me to believe it was a microswitch engagement adjustment.

Update on this issue.
Thorough inspection of the sensors shows that the sensors are working correctly.
In the TW's the uplock micro switch activates the up light when the button is released. The button is ONLY released when the uplock cam has flipped and the gear is locked up all the way.
No adjustment of the micro switch adjustment screw will make any difference as the screw actually moves away from the switch as the uplock cam flips.
I talked to the previous owner John Shuttleworth and he had had this issue a few times. When he'd put the gear up and one light wouldn't come on, he would move the gear switch to neutral for a couple of seconds, then back UP and the gear would lock into place.
I have flown the plane and followed his instructions, and yes, the gear lock into place ever time using this method. Looking at the barber poles, it looks like that side is only coming up about 1/8" or a fuzz more to flip the cam, lock the gear and turn on the up light.
So...on to the next step. How to get the gear to come all the way up on that side. Can I adjust the ram so it comes up just a fuzz more?

Yes, you can adjust the end on the actuator shaft. There is a keyin the
threaded area by the nut. Remove the bolt on the drag link. Then loosen
the nut and remove the key. Rotate the end 180 degreesin whatever
direction is necessary to pull the gear leg further up into the wheel
well.Only go 1/2 turn. Then go fly the airplane and test it.
