Thanks for all the input. I do remember the 'list discussions from years ago on the subject but I wanted to see what was current. So, I ordered a pair of PC545's. FYI, the price you may have paid a few years ago is sharply higher. Anything with Lead is going to continue to rise. Even the prices on the batteries I just purchased vary widely. I used "4wheelparts.com" and got as good a price as anyone else offerred. I have used this vendor for other purchases and have been satisfied with the result.
Belatedly, I finally ponied up for a Schumacher charger. It's a smart charger that can charge deep-cycle batteries, float charge and there is even a Start position. If I had used it last year before I left my CJ in the hanger for 3 months without starting, my old battery might still be useable.

Craig,
You won't need the smart charger. AGM batteries have a shelf life of over a year. You can let it sit without charging with virtually no loss of charge for prolonged periods.

True. I even let my Odyssey's sit over winter in a hanger heated to about 45 degrees. I do not use a trickle charge and they last typical 3 years.
On the otherhand I left a battery minder on the expensive sealed lead acid batteries - especially the Gills in the MU2 because I could get double the life and they were $2200 each !!
