Will be having 4 sets of headset jacks in a console between the front seats in my RV-10. I would like to make the console removeable. Would it create an interferance problem if I use a molex connector or something comprable to serve as a disconnect. The shield would be connected to a pin so it would carry through the connector.

Wouldn't it be easier to leave 2 extra feet of wire coiled up so that when you remove the panel you can just put it aside?

I am working on the wiring harness and it struck me that it be nice just to have this as a separate module, easier to manage for the wiring and then also easy to get the console totally out of the way.

I did it……I have not had problems. I used a 9db connector and crimped pins. Can not remember if I brought the shield through……my Jacks are not far from my connector.

I agree with Sebastien. My experience with troubleshooting electric/electronic issues one goes to the connectors first. Some say adding a connector increases problems 10-100 fold. Just lengthen the wire a bit for access. EE |

Agreed, but machined pin sub-D's are incredibly reliable. I've used sub-D's to allow unplugging everything in my panel. I don't have the same confidence in molex connectors, though.
