Fellow Red Stars,
As April looms Sun-N-Fun is just around the corner, so we in the South East Region of the RPA would like to host all RPA members at the RPA Headquarters AKA “Pirate’s Lounge Bar and Grill RV” on the Warbird Ramp at Lakeland. Bill and Kim Mills (AKA “Pirate” and “Heels”) have graciously offered to once again (5 years running) open their space up as the “admin” spot and hangout and HQ for the RPA.
This year the Mills are expanding logistics with tents, briefing boards, more tables and seating and adding an “event grill” which is not like the grill on your back porch. Pirate said the bar will be stocked as usual and is planning a Red Star cookout Thursday evening that includes steak and all the fixin’s with libations included all for a small donation. He said “The space IS for the Redstars. After hours gathering is open every night for anyone to hang out and have a couple cocktails. I WANT this to be THE Red Star hangout! That’s why we do it, to be with our Friends!!!!”
As part of the “Sun 40 Sprint,” Craig Payne organized a no-host dinner Wednesday evening on the Sun-N-Fun campus starting at 1800. Happy hour starts at 17:30 and it’s BYOB, but Craig always chips in a case or so to get us started. The dinner is $15 per plate and you need to purchase them prior to the event at the below website, so order early. Obviously we’re gonna do some flying; but at the moment we don’t have anything special planned for the Warbird arrival on Wednesday. I cannot break away that day, so if anyone can lead the Redstars in, sound off and we’ll put something together. We also plan to fly in the showcase Thursday afternoon about 1425, so be prepared to receive that briefing Thursday morning at the RPA HQ (Pirate’s RV) if you want to fly in the showcase.
To help with event planning (chiefly for food), please RSVP to me letting me know if you plan to join the steak dinner Thursday evening at Pirate’s RV and which events you plan to fly. So, RSVP ASAP please.

P.S. Here’s the rough schedule for Pirate’s RV aka RPA HQ:
Sunday: Arrive and set up, position the Jet! (Pirate’s jet team is performing this year!) Bar opens as soon as it’s set up!
Monday: Open. Bar opens at 4pm.
Tuesday: Bar opens at 4pm. If anyone wants to do burgers or dogs, we can make that work.
Wednesday: 1730: Craig Payne’s Dinner on campus. RV Closed for Code 1 sponsored dinner for the Jet Warbirds. Then open for night show and drinks.
Thursday: Steak Dinner at the RPA HQ… all welcome
Friday: BAR opens when last guy is on deck
Saturday: RV closed for AARP sponsored event. Then open for night show and drinks.
Sunday: We’re out of there…
After hours gathering is open every night for anyone to hang out and have a couple cocktails
