I hope someone can help .  We are at present test flying G-JAGY  a Europa mono imported from the US and converted to a Tri-gear by Nev Eyre.  It’s a 914 with Airmaster prop with Warp drive blades  and the original AC100 controller.
whilst test flying the prop works ok in manual mode.  Switching to Auto it runs to full fine . How does it detect RPM is it the sensor on the back of the spinner flange? If so is it a light sensing counter using a light source ? If this all sounds a bit vague I am a third party relaying this request and my Europa does not have a VP prop. Some advice on the operation  would be of great help. As Airmaster do not support the old AC100 controller any longer.
Any help would be much appreciated .

A couple of years ago I converted my Airmaster from AC100 to AC200 controller. The AC100 was working fine and I still have most of the components.

There are three concentric rings of black "squares" at the rear of the spinner and the detector attached to the side of the gearbox has three photocells aligned with the rings to "count" the number of squares going by in each propeller revolution. The rings correspond to Take-Off, Climb and Cruise rpm.

I did experience on at least one occasion at low light levels that the photocells weren't detecting the squares, but I can't remember what the response was i.e. did the propeller rpm go to fine pitch? That would make sense I guess.

Contact me if you want more help or info.

I think my controller may be like yours. Take off at full fine , then turn it back to climb and later to cruise if you like. I was thinking the fine setting was labeled take off. I had some problem with the controller ten years ago and had to sent it to Florida dealer to be re- booted. Has been no problem since and now at 650 hours. I think there must be a sensor on the spinner back plate.

I can strongly recommend to get in contact with Martin from Airmaster - he is VERY helpful.

My Europa is at the Belgian Airmaster dealer Oyen CTR just now. Dirk Oyen also knows the complete propeller system in depth.

Good luck with the troubleshooting.

I have limited experience of the Whirlwind blades but they do seem to be much nicer than the Warp Drive ones, which are much too stiff and cause a lot of vibration as a result.
The aerodynamics also are more optimized for the performance the Europa is capable of. Warp Drive seem to have changed little from the original target market of weight shift microlights.
All my opinion of course so don't forget the salt!
