Recently the nose gear strut on our CJ became increasingly soft and bobbed significantly during runup. So I recharged it with the prescribed 294 psi of nitrogen, but noticed a couple of days later that it was bobbing somewhat again.
Now I've never had the strut's seals replaced in the 16 years I've owned the plane because it wasn't necessary. Have any of you bright fellows undertaken this task, and if so, what is the process? To be more precise, what is the process a qualified person, not I, would undertake?

Blitz,Info to use as a "yard stick" for your fix or replace comparison once you have a handle on labor costs.  It just might be cheaper, faster, better to replace than to repair especially if your bushings and scissors are worn and getting loose.
Complete new nose gear, less wheel, axle and damper, but with forks is $1650.00 exchange.
Best,
Doug

Thanks, Doug. I love you too. ....No, I mean it. 😉
BTW, Jim Selby mentioned some stuff he saw an ad for that you pour into the strut to soften old seals. Kinda like the leak-stop goop we used to pour into a leaky radiator. Anybody used this?
