Dear all
I drilled a 1/4 hole in each aileron weight with very little effect. The hinges are free amd i dont think im doing anything wrong.
Is this normal? What next? 1/2" hole?
Help please.

Hi Will,
Sounds like you are balancing the ailerons. You will find you have to drill out lots of 1/4 in holes in both weights. Ideally you need to do it after you have painted the surfaces to save having to add weight back in to balance the weight of the paint.

William. If you were to compare the volume /weight removed between ¼” hole to a ½” hole the difference would be huge. So small bits but often is the order of the plan. Then you have to fill the holes with some foam and glass it over and repaint . Quite a lot of patience needed to complete it !
