I have new the cylinder heads on my 912 UL. I need to know what VDO coolant temperature gauges are compatible (Temperature Range) with the new cylinder head temperature sensors. In other words will the output of the new 912 UL cylinder head sensor fall within the temperature range of the VDO Temperature gauge?

I’m not sure the following question was received on the Matronics forum so I am sending it again. Hope some one can tell me what VDO coolant Temperature gauge is compatible with the sensors in the new Rotax 912 UL cylinder heads. Hugh,
Compare the numbers on the new temp senders with those on your old ones. The numbers will be stamped on the flats of the sender.
If they are the same, you are good to go. If different, you need to get into the specifications. You can find VDO information on the web. Or post here and I can help.
What are you using to display temp?

Hugh,
It would help to know if the sensors are thermocouple or resistive,
for example. All TC type "K" senders (yellow/red) should work with
all type K gauges unless the wire length is much different than the gauge
expects. Use a VOM to measure the resistance of the probe and compare it
to what should be stamped on the back of the gauge.
If you have resistance type probes, they usually require a matched set
of probe/gauge.
