ForeFlight has come out with an aircraft profile that ask for Glide Performance Best Glide speed?, Best Glide Ratio?
I have trike with a Jabiru engine. On testing I figured the best glide speed was 75-78kt. That seem to give me the least amount of descent or vertical speed.
How would I figure the Glide ratio?

Rick,
I'll risk answering this, because there's not much activity on Matronics from the Europa crowd. Maybe most of them are busy with cool things like Sun 'n Fun, which we in darkest Scotland can only dream of. So your query represents an exciting challenge for me.
100 ft / min = 1 knot. Actually it's 101.33 ft / min, but 100 is close enough. So convert your least amount of descent, e.g. 500 ft / min to knots, which would be near enough 5 knots downwards.
Divide your forward glide speed, say 75 knots by the vertical speed of 5 knots in this example, which would give a glide ratio of 15:1. Of course this takes no account of wind effect, which could either increase or lessen your effective glide ratio over the ground.
Thanks for stimulating my grey matter.

Hence plan for 10:1 to allow for turns and 'muffling about' after an engine out event. Skydemon allows you to add this parameter to the Aircraft model and thereafter depicts a gliding circle around the aircraft (switchable over water/land). Foreflight may do the same thing. A cleverer (!) version of this would use the wind vector (at that altitude) to create a lobe shaped gliding range.
Trigear best glide (as per POH) is 75kts.
