I’ve just done a trial fit of the C04 water hose that goes from the header on top of the Rotax 912S down to the port side of the radiator and it seems a very tight fit between the footwell and the engine mount. I’m concerned that it will be chafing and get damaged enough to spring a leak quite quickly. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did they do about it?

Dave - mine is more than “close” - placing the C04 pipe so it will connect to the header and the radiator results in it touching BOTH the side of the footwell (only just forward of the rudder return spring retaining bolt) and a cluster of the engine mount tubing. I guess it could be tied to the engine mount to avoid chafing against it with engine vibration, and maybe the footwell surface is smooth enough not to cause wear on the pipe even if it is rubbing against it.
Anyone else have any comments?

My problem is that the tight fit means I can't put enough force on the tube to get it to fully slide over the fitting of the water radiator. Do you have that too?

Jeroen - I haven’t actually tried to fit the pipe to the radiator yet; I was offering it up to see how it would go, using the aperture in the duct for positioning. Just thinking aloud, I wonder if it would be possible to fit the pipe to the radiator before fitting the radiator to the duct? That might not work as there might not be room for the bent part of pipe C04 to pass upwards to its destination.

Tried the trick with vaseline- works like a charm. Now trying the same with the oil hoses, but they don't give up as easily. Same problem, very little leverage in a space that is too small to get you hands in.

Try dipping the end of the oil hose in a mug of boiling hot water for a couple of minutes. Softens them up quite nicely (shake off any water before fitting).
