Bobby,

Thanks so much for the information. I have been looking for the picture of
the spacers too and I haven't found them yet. A lot of people are telling me
the Sonex motor mounts are stiffer and better but I don't have any positive
information. I'm going to send a letter off to Sebastien and see what he
says. The downward angle looks too low and I don't have the correct downward
engine measurements yet. One thing is for sure, mounting the engine for the
last time sure gave me a lot more drive to get this thing finished! Seeing
it with the engine on the airframe is a joy!

Subject: Engine Mounts

Joe,
I installed my engine in 2006 and did not have access to a lot of info now
available.

The washers you mention ( I assume ) go against the rubber doughnuts on the
engine mount. They are to be used in compression so two will be on the back
side and two will be on the front. There is a photo somewhere showing how
they are installed but I can not find it. They are not shown in some photos
so I did not install them at first. I flew about 60 hours and found out that
I had left them out. I bought new rubber mounts of higher durometer (
stiffer ) and installed the washers. This raised the engine just enough that
I had to patch and re-drill the cowling attach screws. I did not have to do
it but the spinner was about 1/2" off the vertical center and I did not like
the looks of it. Don't take my word but check it out thoroughly before you
fit the cowl.
