Hi all,

I’m looking for a best practice.  I want to overhaul the carburetors on my Rotax 914 and every time I have found this challenging.  I find tightening the stainless steel line nipple onto the carburetor difficult.
I can't get a tool in the tight space and I have even tried making my own tool without success.

Does Rotax have a special spanner (wrench for you Americans) for this? Any tips would be appreciated.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Bud Yerly's advice is to disconnect the SS lines at the fuel pressure regulator, rather than at the carbs. That seems to work fine.

I guess that is one approach. I like to send my carbs to Lockwood and I happen to have a second set so I just do an exchange.

So... I guess I'm still looking to understand how folks tighten the SS nipples in place

I have successfully used a 14 mm crowfoot and 14 mm half ring spanner
( wrench). specifically the half ring spanner is a ring spanner with a slot cut into it to allow fitment over the pipe, It's a bit tight but works for me,
